Character: Miyabi Hanakouji
Age: 17

Canon Point: Just after Scorpio Temple rescue

Background:
As a child, Miyabi was beautiful and thin and she was good friends with Eikichi who was an overweight child. She had feelings for him at the time but was unable to reveal them to him due to peer pressure and one day some children pulled his pants down and told him that Miyabi didn't like fat kids. Due to the trauma of this event, the two of them parted ways and she took the event to heart, binging on food until she was really overweight. 

Despite this, when she entered Seven Sisters High School, she became a reputable member of the newspaper club and made some good supportive friends even though they gave her rather embarrassing nicknames like Hanaji (blood nose - due to her being clumsy and getting blood noses) and fatty. She also calls herself Cozy as a nickname. Despite all these years apart, she still held feelings for Eikichi but due to being embarrassed about her weight, she hid her identity from him. 

When Miyabi meets Eikichi again at the start of the game she helps them with information in regards to the rumours that are spreading around the school. She asks one of her friends to not tell Eikichi who she is and assists with their missions through the game before her major story arc happens where she is kidnapped by a rival gang leader. Eikichi hears that Miyabi has been kidnapped and recognizing the name, rushes in to her rescue to find out that the chubby girl that he's been hanging around is the girl that he's missed since his childhood. He saves her from them but in her embarrassment at being overweight and thinking he wouldn't care about her in that state, she runs away to the enemy cult and makes a wish for her to be thin again. 

She's granted her wish at the Scorpio temple and when Eikichi comes to the temple as per the game storyline, finds out that she's thin again but is now hugging onto someone that looks exactly like him. This person is his Shadow self (other dark self). He finds out that her weight going up and down was all due to her feelings (good and bad) in regards to Eikichi himself and he tells his shadow self that Miyabi belongs to him and fights his other self to prove his feelings. After winning the battle, they reconcile and he convinces her that he doesn't care about her weight and is in love with the person she is on the inside.

Personality:
Miyabi is a kind girl who is able to see past what people look on the outside and love them for who they are inside. She's been like this since childhood such as having feelings for Eikichi despite his appearance but this is coupled with a lack of confidence in herself and being easily peer pressured into having doubts. This is also seen in her childhood where she runs away from Eikichi after the pants pulling incident and not trying to rectify that she doesn't hate him for his weight. Then also again in the present, when she runs away from him (again) after he finds out that she's now overweight. Instead of speaking to him and allowing him to tell her how he feels, she makes a deal with the devil and wishes for herself to be skinny and beautiful again in order to not be an embarrassment to the person she loves. 

Due to this lack of confidence, she very easily jumps to negative conclusions as to what people may think of her. "He hates me because I'm fat" and is willing to do anything to quickly resolve the situation in a way that would cause the less friction with people. Hence, going and making a wish to be skinny rather than sitting down and speaking to Eikichi to work towards a body transformation. This would also indicate that she has an independent streak coupled with a stubborn trait. That is, "I will fix this myself" and shows that she is trying to fix those childhood self doubts and confidence issues but that there is a varying degree of success to this. She's able to call upon this confidence when it applies to assisting other people (helping Eikichi find out more information about rumours or finding information for her newspaper club) but the doubts still show when the feelings are applied to her personal self worth.

A lot of her personality revolves around being a wonderful girlfriend to the person she has loved since she was a child. She loves to cook and has a cooking subscription, taking food to Eikichi and his band while they're rehearsing. She likes to take care of him and accepts his eccentricities ...such as his not so great singing voice which she still enjoys listening to. When you speak to her in game with another character she will ask them to please take care of Eikichi and adding "you know how he is". All of this shows that she is the domestic, calm and happy type who will take care of the one she loves, enjoys being looked after by said love while not looking at the world through rose coloured glasses too much as she does understand the type of person she is with.

Due to the long term weight gain from childhood to her late teen self, she is more used to being in a larger body and eating without regard for how she looks but the sudden weight loss from the wish that was granted means that she will struggle with these self doubts. She may sometimes forget that she's reverted to her childhood weight and worry about how people perceive her or worry that she will gain all the weight back and lose Eikichi despite the fact that he has advised otherwise.

Abilities: She doesn't have any special abilities of the supernatural kind but she can cook. 

Alignment: Aiada - Envy/appreciation
Miyabi would fit under envy and appreciation as she grew up gaining lots of weight and wishing things were different for herself. She envied the other children who were confident in standing up for what they thought (even though they were bullies that ruined her life) and then envied the people who were skinnier than her and could be with the people that they loved. She appreciates now that she is able to be with the love of her life and everything that he brings to her life even though he is rather quirky and special.

Other:
Miyabi is being apped in as Eikichi's girlfriend as worked out with his player as this is game canon. She's actually quite a minor character in the game and a lot of her story revolves around Eikichi who is a main character. She only makes a few appearances in the game.
